Canada’s Seafood Farmers Support New Funding for Innovation and Wild Stock Enhancement in 2018 Fall Economic Statement: “A New Opportunity for Partnership”

“Canada’s Seafood Farmers welcomed new funding for fisheries and aquaculture in British Columbia and Quebec that will support projects focused on innovation, clean technology adoption, and infrastructure investments. Working together we will improve fisheries and seafood farming productivity, sustainability and safety, and science partnerships.

“We strongly support efforts to update and modernize regulations related to our sector. We believe competitiveness can only be addressed under a new modern federal Aquaculture Act for Canada. We look forward to the outcome of the upcoming federal-provincial ministers meeting in St John’s where we anticipate Ministers endorsing the development of a new Act.”
